How do I set-up Outlook Express to get my E-mail?

My E-mail is not working in Outlook Express

How do I set it up so that each different e-mail address has their own Inbox?

Open Outlook Express: Go to Start / Programs / Outlook Express

  • Click on Tools / Accounts
  • Click on the Mail tab
  • Click on the Add/Mail button. This will open an Internet connection wizard. Follow each screen’s directions as explained below and click Next between each screen.
    • Display name: Your real name
    • E-mail address: jsmith200@tvcconnect.net (first initial, last name, & account number@tvcconnect.net)
    • Incoming server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
    • Outgoing server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
    • Account name: ____%tvcconnect.net
      (use % NOT @)
    • Password: your assigned password
    • Click Finish at the end of all screens

Open Outlook Express and check your settings:

  • Click on Tools/Accounts
  • Click on Mail tab (if Mail tab is blank, refer to previous question directions)
  • Highlight mailhost.tvcconnect.net and click Properties
  • On General tab:
  • Servers tab:
  • Incoming server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
  • Outgoing server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
  • Account name: ____%tvcconnect.net
    (use % NOT @)
  • Password: your assigned password
  • Click Close

You will be creating a new identity for the second and each subsequent e-mail address:

  • Open up Outlook Express
  • Click on File/Identities/Add New Identity
  • Type in the name of the new Identity (display name or real name not e-mail name)
  • It will ask, Do you want to switch to ____now? Click Yes.
  • This will launch the Internet connection wizard for that account. Follow each page directions as explained below and click Next between each page.
    • Display name: Your real name
    • E-mail address: jsmith200@tvcconnect.net (first initial, last name, & account number@tvcconnect.net)
    • Incoming server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
    • Outgoing server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
    • Account name: ____%tvcconnect.net
      (use % NOT @)
    • Password: your assigned password
    • Click Finish at the end of all pages
    • You are now looking at that new identities Inbox.

 How do I switch from one identity to another?

 Click on File/Switch Identity. This will open a list of your identities. Double click on the identity you wish to switch to.

 

Mail Server Information:

  • Incoming server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
  • Outgoing server: mailhost.tvcconnect.net
  • Account name (sometimes referred to as User Name): ____%tvcconnect.net
    (use % NOT @, just like e-mail address but with % and not the @)

 

How do I create another e-mail adress?

  • Using Internet Explorer, go to www.tvcconnect.net
  • Click on Manage My E-Mail
  • Sign in using your default account (the one we assigned you) and password
  • Once you’re logged into the webpage click on the E-Mail button in the right hand side (if you can’t see the E-mail button, click on maximize to make Internet Explorer be full screen. You should see it now. Suggested minimum screen resolution is 1024X768.)
  • In the middle of the webpage it should now say Create E-mail Account. In E-mail User Name, type in the new name you wish to use (just the part that will come before the @ sign. ie.. suzyk)
  • Real Name: type in real name
  • Password and Confirm Password: type in a password for that e-mail account.
  • Click Save when done and you should see the new e-mail name appear in the bottom list along with your default user name
  • You can now log out of the E-mail manager
